Heute geht es um ein kurzes Erlebnis in einer McDonald’s-Filiale in Paris-Montmartre. Dort war ich während meines gesamten Aufenthaltes zwei- oder dreimal zu Gast. Du denkst jetzt wahrscheinlich: „Ha, dem Typ ihr Französisch ist wahrscheinlich so schlecht, dass ihm froh war, konnte er zum Bestellen gewohnte englische Produktnamen wie Burger oder Chicken McNuggets verwenden!“
Doch weit gefehlt, junger Padawan. Mit meinen Französischkenntnissen konnte ich mich immer noch im allerletzten Moment vor dem Verhungern oder Verdursten retten (obwohl es manchmal knapp war, denn nur mit übelstem Hunger wollte ich mich der Demütigung aussetzen, in radebrechendem Französisch zu bestellen und mehrmals missverstanden und mitleidig angeguckt zu werden. Vorteil der Sache: In Paris habe ich so etwa 8 kg abgenommen). Nur manchmal, wenn Erwachsene wie ich sehr spät nachts nach Hause (d.h. ins Hotel) kommen, dann hat auch die letzte senegalesische Frittenbude geschlossen und zum Hungerstillen bleibt nur noch das 24/7-Meckes. Vive la globalization!
Bei meinem ersten Besuch dort stellte ich fest, dass man recht lang warten muss, bis man an der Theke mit Bestellen drankommt. Danach muss man noch länger darauf warten, bis einem das Essen auch ausgehändigt wird. Fast Food sind die da jedenfalls nicht. Und so dachte ich mir ziemlich schnell: „Komm, du Digital Native, guck dir doch mal diese Selbstbedienungsterminals im Laden genauer an.“
„EASY ORDER“ heissen diese Geräte, und tatsächlich ist es sehr einfach, daran zu bestellen. Das Bedienmenü ist mehrsprachig – ich glaube mich zu erinnern, dass man zwischen etwa 6 Sprachen wählen konnte. Ich entschied mich für Deutsch, amüsierte mich ab und zu über ein paar kleine Übersetzungsfehler, aber hatte innerhalb von drei Minuten meine Bestellung abgeschlossen. Dann noch fix per Kreditkarte bezahlt (macht man direkt am Terminal), und schon zeigte das Gerät eine Nummer an, mit der die Bestellung meiner Person zugeordnet wurde.
In meinem Fall war das die 294. Nun hielt ich Ausschau nach einer Anzeigetafel, die die aktuell aufgerufenen Nummern darstellen würde, wie ich dies z. B. von Schweizer Postschaltern kenne – aber Pustekuchen. Keine digitale Anzeige. Nicht mal eine analoge, mit Zetteln oder so. Nee, stattdessen wurde mir bewusst: „Verdammt, hier gibt es einen Medienbruch vom Digitalen ins Analoge und die werden meine Nummer gleich ausrufen. Was heisst 294 nochmal auf Französisch? Deux-cent quatre-vingt-quatorze …?“
Da hörte ich es auch schon von der Theke. Also, irgendwas hörte ich, vielleicht meine Nummer, die 294. Genau konnte ich es nicht entziffern, denn Franzosen reden ungefähr achtmal so schnell Französisch, wie ich es verstehe. Aber ich vermutete – da ich sonst niemanden an den SB-Terminals gesehen hatte – dass der Mann hinter der Theke, der ein Pack zum Mitnehmen in der Hand hielt und eben so freundlich „Dskfsz“ gerufen hatte (jedenfalls hatte ich dies verstanden), meine 294 meinte.
So war es auch, wie wir nach ein wenig Kommunikation mit Händen, Füssen und Stammeln übereinkamen, und ich ging fröhlich mit meinem normierten Nachtmahl ins Hotel.
Fazit:
Okay, das mit dem Ausrufen der Bestellnummern ist nicht wirklich bis zu Ende durchdacht. Wenn man an den Terminals schon mehrere Sprachen anbietet, ist es echt nicht sinnvoll, dass man am Ende fliessend die französischen Zahlen verstehen können muss, um sein Essen auch zu erhalten.
Absolut positiv ist aufgefallen: Ich wurde wirklich schneller bedient als die anderen Kunden, die „klassisch“ an der Theke bestellt hatten. Man wartet dort teilweise 5 Minuten, bis man bestellen kann (auch wenn nur eine oder zwei Kunden vor einem sind), und dann nochmal gut 10 Minuten, bis das Essen auch kommt. Ich erhielt mein Essen etwa zwei Minuten nach dem Bezahlen am SB-Terminal.
Und … die Terminals sind zweiseitig. Auf der einen Seite, die auch im Bild zu sehen ist, können Menschen im Stehen bestellen. Auf der anderen Seite, die konkav gebogen ist, ist alles ideal für Rollstuhlfahrende zu erreichen (soweit ich das jedenfalls beurteilen kann; ich bin kein Rollstuhlfahrer). Die 4 Terminals, die im Laden stehen, bieten also insgesamt 8 Selbstbedienungsplätze.
So, und was kommt als Nächstes? Dass ich auf meinem Handy einen QR-Code habe, der mich identifiziert, den ich an diesem Terminal einscannen kann und der mir dann gleich mein Lieblingsmenü vorschlägt? Ach, auch noch zuviel Medienbruch – das geht doch auch über NFC.
Oder noch besser: Ich kann schon von unterwegs via McDonald’s-App bestellen, auch bereits mobile bezahlen und mich dann im Laden gleich an die Fast Lane anstellen. Wann mein Essen warm bereitstehen muss, können die Maschinen der Systemgastronomie ja selber entscheiden, wenn ich ihnen erlaube, nach dem Bestellvorgang mein Handy zu fragen, wo ich gerade bin und ob ich in 5 oder 15 Minuten im Laden sein werde.
Das werde ich mal schnell erfinden. Programmiere ich das in Flash oder auf Internet-PC?
